AIR Mission Statement:

AIR is a new nontheistic community being established as a prototype in the Atlanta Georgia area. If you are interested, please join.

We think it is possible to find inspiration in music, art, literature, and the beauty of the universe. We want to honor traditions, and celebrate holidays, but without irrational beliefs. We want to teach our children morals and critical thinking by using the great religious stories and parables, but without teaching absurdities. And most of all, we want to enjoy the benefits of community with like-minded individuals. As the old saying goes, why do we have to, “throw the baby out with the bath water?"

So several Atlanta families are starting what we are calling the, “Assembly of Inspiration and Reason,” or AIR for short. It is our goal to provide all the benefits many of us used to get from church, without the superstition.

The official website will be online soon. Until then, you can read about it here.

Our Mission Statement:
The Assembly of Inspiration and Reason exists to establish, assemble, and foster nontheistic communities; to inspire and edify individuals and families through humanistic philosophy, social interaction, and ceremonial traditions; to promote a naturalistic worldview forged in reason and refined by science; to champion individual liberty and safeguard the separation of church and state; to raise public awareness and acceptance of nontheism.

This seems a good idea with reasonable possibilities. I would only add the need for social action as well as interaction. Any creation of positive, balanced, rational and artistic community is a necessary contribution to our culture and the world. Cheers!

If ya'll have anything written down other than on this group and the website, I'd love to know about it. We're just getting non-theist group organizing off the ground here in Vermont, and A.I.R. sounds like a good model.

...The unEaster Celebration seemed to be a hit. I had a good time, and met some nice people. I thought it was fabulous!

My family and I are very glad we found this assembly through a friend. We will be at the unEaster celebration coming up. This kind of community is really helping my wife come out of her "Atheist shell". We are excited at the idea of meeting others that have similar ideas to ours.

This is awesome, I was at a panel discussion hosted by the center for inquiry. They too, said that it is sad that we do not have places to commune. Churches, mosques, and synagogues are places for people to have a communal atmosphere. These religions create these centers either in their places of worship or near their places of worship. So, right on!!!

Come together one and all

Hello fellow atheists!  I have joined this site in an attempt to find other rational individuals, such as myself, and to promote a current charity drive that I am trying to get going for the Oklahoma tornado victims.  I have managed to get many groups from around my area, including the Beyond Belief Foundation to back me on this endeavor.

I am located in Newnan, Ga and have my own atheist group entitled "Coweta County Atheists".  I am currently being backed by Spaulding Co.…

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…
