Purpose

Atheists for Israel and Palestine (AIPs) believe in a two-state solution to resolve the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

AIPs believe that Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish-majority state, and we believe that Palestine has the right to exist as an Arab-majority state, but we also believe that minority religious and ethnic groups must be accepted within both states and must have equal rights and opportunities. AIPs oppose all religious and ethnic intolerance on both sides.

Debates about the Israel/Palestine conflict are too often hysterical and disrespectful. Although the strong emotions around this conflict are sometimes understandable, such debates are not conducive to solutions. As AIPs we wish to conduct and encourage respectful and constructive debates between moderate pro-Palestinians and moderate pro-Israelis, and we particularly encourage the involvement of those who support both sides.

AIPs believe that the Israel/Palestine conflict can only be resolved through direct negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians resulting in two states. In the long-term, these two states should be independent from each other but also friendly to each other. If this group can help, even in a marginal way, towards this goal, then it would have served its purpose.

In the following video, artists Palestinian Mira Anwar Awad and Israeli Achinoam Nini (Noa) talk about how to achieve peace:

I am very happy to see this group. So often it becomes a case of one is right so the other is wrong.

"Debates about the Israel/Palestine conflict are too often hysterical and disrespectful." Finally someone recognized that.
