Why does there need to be racist atheism?

People, I think this topic has been pretty well exhausted. Over 170 replies to a post that was obviously put here for no other reason than to inflame and divide.

I understand completely that this is a subject which involves strong emotions, but, ultimately, we have to accept that this is a forum about atheism, not about racism - although of course, the two sometimes intertwine.

As far as I can see, the important thing that has been established in this thread is that everyone here is against racism and fully supportive of the Black Freethought Group on AN. But opinions on the finer points of racism are bound to differ due to different life experiences and are not going to be resolved by squabbling about it over the internet.

I think everyone has had a chance to have a fair say on this matter. Now, for the good of the site as a whole, it is time to move on and let this thread die.

I see I missed quite a bit of the fun last night. From what I see now, I think I was right about troll infiltration. In any case, I'm quite familiar with the mentality in question and will not entertain it further. Nor will I participate further in this discussion.
