I've been wondering if this is known, or even how to find it. I once had a cat that I jokingly named "Cat" and a dog who I named "Dog". There have been zillions of gods. Some are monotheistic gods. I've read a number of names for the christian god, such as Yahweh, Jehovah. But I wonder why they call their deity by his generic name.

Any historians or theologians on Nexus who can enlighten me?
