When an AN Member dies.... And a fine one has been lost.

This is also sent to the AN moderators, but I think it is also appropriate as a forum topic.

What do we do when an AN member and group creator dies? Activist Ajita Kamal was an AN member and created 2 groups.  He died last month in some sort of "incident" although there is suggestion in websites about him that he may have been ill.   Maybe I missed discussion, but wanted to note his passing.

No one can know all of the members of Nexus, and most here probably did not interact with Kamal.  In the end, the cause of his death was not announced.  He was 33 years old.  He was an activist, a scientist, and intellectual. It's sad to see his passing.

Me too.

Sorry to hear of his death.

Very sad to hear of his death, and sending good thoughts and wishes to his family and friends.

I know it's from a religious meditation, but I've always found meaning in this.

"No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were;  any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee." John Donne

Yeah good quote Pat, thanks.

Thanks to all of you who replied.  And Pat, the Donne quote is very appropriate.  Thanks.

I'll raise a glass to him right now (I was gonna anyway, but now I have a better reason than its Super Bowl Sunday). Very sad, I didn't know the guy but this is the first time I'm hearing of a fellow A|N member dying and since I feel like this is my community, I feel a sense of loss. May his body return to the earth and his life energies be reintroduced into the biosphere.

You are right.  I feel a sense of loss as well.  Kamal was well respected and liked.

If I am to be honest I had not heard of him until now, but having read through the links provided I can see what a tragic loss his death represents. Just so very sad to lose him and his obviously brilliant and lucid mind
