Why give lenience to the Qur'an that we don't to the Bible?
Sure, you'll likely receive death threats... but is that really new to you?
Outside of this, I've been giving some thought (after countless hours listening to shortwave radio), that we Atheists need our own frequency. One thing I always hear on shortwave, and quickly skip, is dozens of Christian frequencies. God this, Jesus that, repent, you're worthless, etc... and I realized, we Atheists need to have an alternative.
If anyone has any insight into how to get a shortwave station going, feel free to pass along your knowledge.
Aside : Andrew, you remind me of me a little too much.

"Should" is a moral choice and yours alone to make.
"Wise" is another matter entirely,and depends on context. There are parts of the US and indeed of Australia where it would be unwise to openly criticise the bible.
To openly crticise the Qur'an in some places,say in most the Gulf States, would be to demonstrate a death wish.
Whether others understand your motives or agree is irrelevant.It doesn't matter if you are acting from conscience,objective erudition or are being an ignorant arsehole. In my country at least you have the right to freely express your views.

Go ahead. It will be interesting to see a fresh young westerner's viewpoint unpolluted by conditioning or childhood indoctrination. I'm sure you will find many interesting and silly points that Muslims would not have noticed.
Ibn Warraq and Ali Sina have been criticising the Quran for years, writing books and all. The website http://www.faithfreedom.org/ has many ex-Muslims who have been picking through the Quran for years, although they do it anonymously under pseudonyms. I think extremist Muslims tolerate criticisms coming from westerners far more than from ex-Muslims, because apostates are seen as traitors, and because they know that westerners are used to criticising each other and politicians etc. Criticising the ruler in many Muslim countries only happens underground.
