What an awesome game, especially for us Giants fans. Anybody else watching this game in amazement? I've been a Giants fan since I started watching football, from '86 when they won their first Super bowl to right now, when they just won their fourth! So super psyched! From Tom Brady's first pass, which gave the Giants the first 2 points of the game (on a crazy downfield pass from the endzone with nobody around and ruled intentional grounding and so a safety), to the last play of the game, a hail Mary into the endzone which was batted down but almost caught anyway, that was a great game and I am surprised I have any nails left on my fingers. Congratulations G-Men! Coughlin, Eli, everybody, you did good! Thanks for making this season a great one.

Although I usually don't like teams from New York (especially the Yankees), I do respect the Giants organization. I think the Steelers and Giants are a lot alike in that they both like to play smash-mouth football, usually have a great defense, and have solid, steady ownership that doesn't hire / fire coaches in a knee-jerk reaction to every little bump in the road.
Of course it doesn't hurt that they were playing the Patriots whom I absolutely despise (think spygate and possibly cheating the Steelers out of one if not possibly two more trips to the big dance). I also wanted to see Eli get his second ring and get out of Peyton's shadow. It's not that I dislike Peyton Manning, it's just that you like to see the little brother have just as much success as the older brother kind of thing.
Congratulations to the Giants again for a well played game!
Permalink Reply by Jedi Wanderer on February 6, 2012 at 2:31pm Thanks Brian! Yeah good point about the Steelers and Giants, my father is a fan of both teams being from Pittsburgh but living in NJ for 30+ years. And they do play the same kind of game. I root for the Steelers against a lot of teams, just a team I like and respect.
Permalink Reply by booklover on February 6, 2012 at 4:04pm I live near Chicago, so you can guess which team I'm a fan of, ;), but we visited NYC last year and LOVED it, so I was hoping the Giants would win. :) It was fun to watch, and even better because my daughter was home from college for the weekend, so our whole family watched together and ate good snacks.
Permalink Reply by Jedi Wanderer on February 6, 2012 at 4:08pm Oh that sounds really nice! I took my sons to the mall today and bought them all Giants t-shirts and they were very happy, asking if they could watch the game while wearing their new shirts (we watched some Sports Center, they're too young to sit through a whole game and really they didn't even know the difference). We also got a Giants football and we've been playing catch now all afternoon! :-) Gotta get em when they're young! They call the Giants the "good guys" and whoever they're playing the "bad guys". Hah, so cute!
Permalink Reply by booklover on February 6, 2012 at 4:15pm ha ha that is so cute Wanderer! Where I live it's the Packers who are the bad guys! Even though we're in Illinois, we are so close to the border, there are a LOT of 'cheese-heads' here, ;) lol, including my Sister and her family who live in Green Bay! No rivalry between us!! LOL
Permalink Reply by Jedi Wanderer on February 6, 2012 at 5:07pm Hah, yeah my close friend is a Bears fan, he was almost inconsolable when the Bears got knocked out and the Packers kept winning. He roots for the Giants when he can't root for the Bears anymore, so he was really rooting for us against GB in the regular season, but we let him down. Not in the playoffs though! You're welcome too. :-D
