State of the Union Address

::hearty laugh:: Hardly.

So, who took time out to watch our President, Chairman Maobama, perform at max narcissism, with smugness, arrogance, and self-aggrandizement for all?

One for one. The sum of the political game in America.

For the previous eight years, two terms, worth of "administration", we had the Village Idiot; as puppet of Darth Cheney. Although, I shouldn't be too hard on Cheney; for eight years his lips didn't move once while making the illiterate dance.

What's changed with the new "administration"? Summarily, nothing. Instead of a man bereft of a discernable intellect, virtually incapable of properly completing a sentence; we've gotten the ass puppet of Skanky Pelosi, Chairman Maobama.

Again, can't be too hard on him though; it takes a great deal of denial to continue being that pointlessly smug, in the midst of so many hollow platitudes. It is a rare gift to be able to speak for an hour straight, and say absolutely nothing.

wow, what a smug, arrogant post that only serves to perpetuate ignorance using various baseless and moronic epithets and stereotypes.

If you have a specific issue, please state it and posit a credible attack, but name calling and empty slurs are pretty tiresome, honestly, and serve nothing but perhaps a petty personal ego.

It's rather simple, really, had you watched the so called "address".

He spoke about, smiled, and even commended himself on "saving two million American jobs" ... yet, unemployment is over 10%, and will remain so for at least this year, likely into next. Structural unemployment is actually between 17.6 and 19%.

His continued platitudes about "Wall Street" and "corporate corruption" ... while bailouts continue, he side steps his responsibility for continuing to support AIG, Sachs Goldman, and other institutions who continually give out lottery bonuses.

Housing is becoming more of a mess, but he keeps speaking about how well his administration "has handled the economic crisis, and will continue to do more" ... as more and more people, who can't get government handouts, are dropping their homes/responsibilities, and taking their chances with the banks/credit agencies ...

Then he wasted a large portion of the rest of the speech taking about "respect" "dignity" "race" ... which have nothing to do with the operation of the government; and personally, I couldn't give a fuck about his opinion on any of those matters.

He talked about the "correctness of expanding hate crime laws"; only a moron, with an entitlement/victimhood agenda would think there is anything "correct" about hate crime laws ~ crime is crime; and according to the Constitution and the Rule of Law, penalties are to be levied equally.

He said nothing of the heinous action of the SCOTUS in basically dismantling the Constitutionally authority by giving full individual rights to corporations; which goes directly to credibility of character.

He spent more time talking about the need to help other countries, that Americans need to continue to "give generously" to those less fortunate abroad; while children and families across this nation, our nation, go hungry, without any type of shelter, without proper education, without proper healthcare ...

And what is "moronic" is to talk about "stereotypes" and "slurs", where none have been presented. As the OP stated, he wasted an hour patting himself on the back, in classic mindless campaign style, for having accomplished summarily nothing positive, and hoisting hollow platitude after hollow platitude that no American should even have had to bother hearing.

But, I'm a patient person. If we're both still here around about 2014, I'll check back with you and see how feel about the hyper-inflation created by uncontrolled government spending/leveraged international debt on the back of continuous fiat currency printing to support failed business; all the while continuing the traditional "politics as usual" of a government that still has zero transparency, accountability and a host of felons and Enemies of the State.

I stand where I started.

Well, thats a bit better but you are still heavily guided by hyperbole and hollow conjecture. "classic mindless campaign style" ? Seriously?

Overall though, its pretty clear you have a specific expectation of what a "state of the union address" is. It is not a singular speech that solves every specific problem facing a nation in 45 minutes. His speech served the primary purposes quite well, although he certainly lacked the energy of some historic speeches but blew any by GWB out of the water.

Primary purposes:
1. Discourage partisanship
2. show reacquisition of public trust as a priority
3, encourage a global mindset instead of the backward navel gazing, wagon circling idiocy that really belongs in the 19th century and prior.
4. challenge those present to greater and higher goals - positive on their success, admonishment of short sightedness, and a commitment to making this happen.

Those he did well, he's no Kennedy, but these are vastly more complex times, and I think he did very well under the circumstances, in spite of the comical if not ridiculous libertarian extremist rant in the OP.

Blank, shiftless rhetoric. His behavior with the healthcare debacle speaks more clearly than any words from his mouth; oration is not fact. The fact is though, he did nothing to oppose the behavior of his party with their exclusionist tactics. i.e. "politics as usual", no transparency, earmarks, pork projects, graft and corruption ... summarily, he's a typical Chicago liar.

2. show reacquisition of public trust as a priority

"Trust" and "prostitician" are mutually exclusive, antithetical terms, that cannot be logically resolved.

3, encourage a global mindset instead of the backward navel gazing, wagon circling idiocy that really belongs in the 19th century and prior.

Clean up your own backyard before you worry about your neighbors.

Ummmm, maybe you need to get in line with facts; the CIA back in 2007 released formerly classified documents that showed, irrefutably, that Kennedy was not only in league with, but actively funding those of my descent, il cosca; direct Constitutional violation.

It is very naive of you to expect the POTUS to aim his speech directly at you. He is a politician, and as such has to craft his message for a broad audience.

John, let's not be asinine. There is no such expectation. But, perhaps, after the previous administration, and then this man's campaign, built on "hope", "change", "no more corruption, fraud, waste and abuse", "no more earmarks", "no more politics as usual", "the end of partisan politics", etc., one has the right to expect something of that list to come to fruition.

Has any of it? No, not an ounce. Does it make him any different than any other President? No. Did he sell himself as "above standard American political behavior"? Yes.

It's called hypocrisy. Honestly, at this point, I'd rather the prostiticians campaigned on a platform of "this is the system, so it will be the same anal rape as usual, it's just that I'll be the one behind you, skull fucking you out of your future".

It is also very naive to think that one person could change the nature and 200 year history of American politics.

You are correct; again, no such expectation existed in my brain. The rest of the sheeple, speaking of naivety, actually bought into his platitudes.

Actually, yes, I know plenty about him; was in China, Shanxi province, visited Hong Kong, Shanghai, didn't particularly care for either, loved Beijing though, Imperial City and all, 88-89. I'm amused that everyone thinks that there is a singular perspective of Mao ... are you familiar with how the Chinese viewed him? Maybe you should think about it in that perspective for a minute.
