desperately in need of a break from the InSanitorium, i found some good news. what we may be witnessing is a "death throw" of religion, one final attempt to thwart the trend of mass exodus from all things "churchy". true, the article indicates an uptick on spirituality, but that can be interpreted as people taking the easy way out, or perhaps a sort of cop out from the conversation entirely. those who identify themselves as spiritual but not religious are likely saying that they don't really care to think about the topic b/c it's not very important to them. to me, that is a necessary and convenient arrival, perhaps en route towards Agnosicism or even Atheism. of course, there are many in the spiritual camp who are true believers, which will always be so. but there is reason to believe that the ties to religion are unravelling despite what we see from the Santorum supporters, who, if we are being honest, are probably not all that plentiful in the grand scheme of things. it's visible, it's disgusting, and it won't last. the masses are leaving the mass. sounds like good news to me.
