Santorum: Children of Rape Victims Are "Gifts of God"

Let's see.  A woman is taken against her will and does not want to have a stranger/nephew/brother's baby and Santorum says the baby is "a gift from God."  It is unbelievable that he does not see the lack of logic in this conclusion.  It would make babies of rape victims the price a woman has to pay just for being a sex object to a goon.  If Santorum worships a good God, that deity would not allow the woman to be raped in the first place.  And before Santorum can argue that the rapist was given freedom of will by this God, the question arises, why didn't the all powerful good God make sure that when a man exercises that freedom of will, he does the right thing.

Rick Santorum is a stupid piece of shit.  Anyone who thinks they can force another person to give birth when she doesn't want to is sick.  I love that bumper-sticker "Keep your laws off MY BODY."  Some "gift" from 'god'.  It's true that if the woman/girl gets pregnant it is not the fault of the fertilized egg, embryo, etc., it's just nature, but that doesn't mean some idiot gets to decide that the woman has to carry it to term and give birth.  Putting the fertilized egg or embryo above the woman who is actually already here and has been traumatized and then calling it a 'gift' of any kind is beyond sanity and I just don't even have the words to describe it it makes me so furious.

Nicely put.  You are preaching to the choir.

Yep, I'm glad the choir is here.  If I were the only one who felt this way I think I'd lose my mind! lol.

Hear!  Hear!  Why do you think I post so much to this site?  I am so alienated from my society I would really go mad if I did not know there are plenty of others out there just as outraged as I am.

Seriously!!!  I'm lucky to have my Mom, Husband, kids 17 &  20, and a few friends who believe as I do.  But it's SO wonderful to know there are a LOT of 'us' out in the world among the crazies.

I know that there are  already supposedly derogatory interpretations for the name "Santorum" on the internet but I would like to propose one more. "IMBICILE"

I think his followers are happy to hear his extremist views.  These points of view were not spoken so loudly in past years.  They were thought too outrageous.  Now, with Santorum the holy speaking them, these extreme views seem more alowable and a little closer to mainstream.  Maybe a lot closer.

It's become more extremist. Back in the '90s most pro-life people shied away from saying there should not be a rape exception to abortion, and now they're all saying it.

It is totally scary that anyone who believes something so horrible and wretched like that could even come close to running for any position of power, let alone for President.  I just hope there's more than plenty of people out there who are wise enough and compassionate enough not to cast a ballot in favor of any monster like this!!!

Unfortunately, he represents the opinion of many voting Catholics and evangelicals.  They helped him win the caucus in Iowa.  I call their unlikely coalition "Cathevangelical."

Extremely sad but true.  Right-wing extremist like these always preach "morals," yet outrageous statements like this totally goes to show just how morally bankrupt all these clowns really are!

All Santorum has is his ideology. He clearly has no empathy for a woman who has been raped, nor the slightest understanding of the violation and emotional trauma associated with such an event ... and at that, I admit that, while I might attempt to understand what it might be like, I readily admit with no hesitance that I do not know, nor could I ever.

Yet Santorum blathers on, as though life über alles was the only value worth considering. What a dick.
