i think this is important for a few reasons. one, it highlights the hypocrisy from the Christian Right. they claim, over and over and over again, that they are all about religious tolerance. they site the first amendment in their defense of "freedom of religion" when it comes to all things Christianity, but when it comes to Islam...well, not so much. it's interesting that when it comes to freedom of religion, the founders are useful, until they aren't anymore.
second, it's a glimpse inside their hidden agenda. take it all in, and what other conclusion can one draw other than that their goal is a new crusade. a true "holy war" between the US (Christianity) and the entire Middle East (Islam). to the Religious Right, this is the end game. the ultimate goal. a path to wiping Islam off the face of the Earth.
and it would all start with attacking Iran. once that happens all the dominoes will fall. we (the US and Israel) would be engaged in a 3rd World War. who knows who else would join? would India? China? Great Britain? Russia? Pakistan? they all have interests there too. and notice something else about that list? they all have nuclear weapons. now i'm not suggesting that it would necessarily be a nuclear war, but when multiple nuclear countries are fighting against each other, it's always something to be concerned about.
there's been a lot of tough talk from world leaders recently. Israel's Prime Minister really really wants to attack Iran, but also really wants US support. Obama doesn't seem to want to give it, at least not on their terms. Romney, on the other hand, is best buddies with Netenyahu. i don't doubt for a second that he would support his dear friend, and why not, his base is all for it. but i wonder if they've considered the true ramifications of an Iran attack. scarier yet, maybe they have, and just don't care. the Religious Right wants a Holy War, and if Romney is elected, they just might get it.

maybe, but they have guns while we have tomahawk missiles. still, i think it would end very badly for us. whether Obama is a Christian or a non-believer i don't know, but i know he uses reason. i'm not so sure we can safely say that about the other side.

Oh, BROTHER! [he shakes his head and goes in search of some aspirin....]
Loren I was thinking they were planning on an attack of some sort to affect the elections myself. They would do something like that.
i've got another, more personal example of Islamaphobia. here is an email that my mother forwarded to me (i have no idea why she sends shit like this to me):
so this email, likely started by an American Christian, advocates making Muslims 2nd or 3rd class citizens in America. it applauds the Japanese for limiting rights of an entire group of people on the grounds that they don't like their religion. 1st amendment? nah, not for those scary Muslims.
all this has me worried. it's not that i love Muslims or anything. quite frankly, i prefer Christianity slightly to Islam. what worries me is the implication. what would they like to do with the Muslims?
how much different is the Muslim treatment in America today from the Jews of Germany under Hitler?

Permalink Reply by Pat on September 26, 2012 at 12:07pm There's a flip side to this coin. But, I certainly don't want to be misunderstood in thinking that I somehow am in agreement with the extremist Teabaggers like Boykin or the hate group, Family Research Council. However, and having said that, they're not the only religious hate group in the mix.
Shi'a Muslims believe in the re-appearance of the 12th Imam, just as fervently as Xtain evangelicals believe in the Apocalypse. In other words, both nut cases hold dear their sexually perverted death wish to see the the Mahdi, on the one hand, or Jesus, on the other, return in a fiery blaze of glory heralded by world wide conflict, wars, and all out destruction of civilization. And, guess who runs Iran these days? Shi'a Ayatollahs! I can't say as I blame Israel for being more than a bit nervous of a regime that calls for their complete and total extermination, and who is on the verge of developing the means to accomplish just that.
Do I want war? Hell No! On the other hand, I no more want to see nuclear weapons in the hands of the spittle drooling, hate mongering, racists who currently control Persia, anymore than I want to see them in the hands of people like Boykin and his ilk.
