progress, science and "one god"
This particular thread could have gone in the science one as well, I suppose, but it ended up here. This is something I read today in Poul Anderson's story, "Delenda Est" and haven't really had time to think about it. I'll think about it during the day and weekend, but for now, I want other opinions on it.
To Quote: " the idea of one almighty god was important to the growth of science, by inculcating the notion of lawfulness in nature."

I would have to agree, Stephen. I had never thought of it before, and the whole notion knocked me silly. I hadn't had time during Saturday to think about it, but after thinking, and reading more of Poul Anderson, I'd have to conclude that the whole idea is ludicrous.
