Surely the above is enough to convince anyone (reasonable) that this is all a bunch of man-made bull. If their "god" was real and truly talking through them, how could the possibly be discord to anywhere near that extent?

I suppose in answer to the OP's question; as many as it takes to satisfy the number of power-hungry and culturally differing peoples. :-P
