I would like to know to who else this has occured and for which religions (other than cristianity) this applies.
Eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge and learnig to tell right from wrong is the "orignal sin". To me this translates to: getting the ability to learn and having morals is what makes us so very terrible in god's eyes.
This leads to 2 points:
1: As a scientist I devote my life to (and "believe in") the oringinal sin and therefore is right at the top of the list of people that god hates (you can think of the implications for religious scientists and this also applies to moral philosophy).
2: How is the charater who wanted to stop us from having knowledge and morals the good guy in this story? If the story was true I would probably not side with the dictator who wants me to be a mindless slave.
