99.9pc certainty' of Noah's Ark discovery on Mount Ararat

CHINESE and Turkish evangelical explorers believe they may have found Noah's Ark - 4000m up a mountain in Turkey.

The team said it had recovered wooden specimens from a structure on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey that carbon dating proved was 4800 years old, around the same time the ark is said to have been afloat.

"It's not 100 per cent that it is Noah's Ark but we think it is 99.9 per cent that this is it," said Yeung Wing-cheung, a Hong Kong documentary filmmaker and member of the 15-strong team from Noah's Ark Ministries International.

The structure had several compartments, some with wooden beams, which were believed to house animals, he said.

The group of evangelical archaeologists ruled out an established human settlement on the grounds that one had never been found above 3500m in the vicinity, Mr Yeung said.

Local Turkish officials would ask the central government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site could be protected while a major archaeological dig was conducted, he added.

The biblical story says God decided to flood the earth after seeing how corrupt it had become, and told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of every animal species.

After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the ark came to rest on a mountain. Many believe that Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region, is where the ark and her inhabitants came aground.

==================================

The interesting thing for me is they have used radio carbon dating to confirm the age of the wood discovered, it is basic fundie law that radio carbon dating is flawed so evolution is a lie based on false science.

So by their logic if this is Noah's ark then evolution is correct and the earth is billions of years old or this is not the ark and could just be any old bit of wood ! :-)

Given that they are a group LOOKING to find an ark I find it hard to believe that their discovery of an ark would be impartial :-)

Perhaps whacking them with some old timber would knock some sense into them :-)
LOL. Thanks.
I found a piece of wood! And look, another one over here, that means compartments, and that must mean noah's ark.
Cause you know... cottages, watchtowers, and other structures have never been made of wood.

I have an issue with the information source.

We're living in the 21st century. Everyone and their grandmother has a camera in SOMETHING they're carrying. And yet, oddly enough, no pictures. Odd, considering they're looking to document something they expect to be groundbreaking.

But hey, even though they don't have pictures to provide... they're 99.9% sure.
Convenient.

Around 2005 there were claims that these people had found the Arc on (you guessed it) mount Ararat. They were completely convinced it was the Arc. I remember claims they even stepped inside.
... REAL archaeologists were intrigued and searched the same location only to discover a rock formation that looked kind of like the hull of a ship upside down.

But hey, this time, 5 years later, they're 99.9% sure...
... without pictures. But they claim they carbon dated it.
These guys are so full of ****.

I hope they're at least right about it being wood this time.
Some 40 years ago when I was a kid they were saying they had found the ark on Mt Ararat.
lol, found it.

Not quite 4,300 years old.
But hey, who's counting?

Kidding of course.
They do seem to be a mite short on what might be called, tangible evidence - like in something you can see. But then, that's science's hangup, when dealing with matters of faith science fails to answer the questions. Only the faithful can find the truths. This continual misadventure is getting more stupid with each laughable iteration .
"Faith is belief in things that don't exist"....Homer J. Simpson
Interesting… And not a single one of the "explorers" thought to bring a single camera?

Katalyzt
This goes along with the spin some fundamentalist Booble thumpers put on the discovery of fossils: they argue that "God," being omniscient (not to mention prescient) knew we would be doubting the O.T. account of creation by evolutionary theory, "so just to fool us, he planted the fossils for us to find them." There is no rational means with which to argue with these dogmatics.
Heh.

And I suppose parents buying presents and hiding them in the closet is just a way to test children's faith in Santa-Claus.
or that SATAN put them there to trick us !
How about this vile conspiracy...

As a woman who is smoking a bowl as we speak...I HAD to say this outloud...And I said to myself: Hey! The poster is right!
