Just curious about something they told me.
Back when I was christian I was told that there is a type of satanist that believes they are thier own god and credit themselves with everthing they achieve (oh the horror).
I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a group of satanists like this or if they were just trying to group athiests with the archenemy?

That sounds like the satanist religion started by Anton LaVey. I've included a link to the wikipedia article, but there are other sources on the net as well.
Personally, I like Anton LaVey for his amazing resemblance to Ming the Merciless.
