i included the 2nd link for the comments section. it's hard to know what to say. these people....they seem almost inhuman. many are actually applauding the letter, stating that she is getting what she deserves. many also claim that it must be Atheists sending the hate mail b/c a true Christian would never do that. it's....surreal. and frightening that our fellow man/woman could think like this.
for now, i'm out of words. please, discuss.

"I just mentioned on another thread where somebody posted this letter, that after learning a lot about the process about threats i've gotten, reposting them is probably the worst thing to do. I was told by the cops and lawyers that it could undermine any case as it could be seen as engaging. Besides that, the person that wrote this letter is probably getting off on the fact that it's being reposted."
Permalink Reply by Loren Miller on April 12, 2012 at 2:53pm Amazing how un-christian some christians can get, eh?
Permalink Reply by Pat on April 12, 2012 at 3:29pm I disagree. I don't think they're being un-christian at all. In fact, I think they're acting exactly how I would expect christians to act. Mean spirited, vindictive, and full of hate.
Permalink Reply by booklover on April 12, 2012 at 6:33pm Exactly Pat. We're more 'christian' than christians. Atheists that are moral are moral without a reason like trying to get into 'heaven'. We are good people just because it's the right thing to do. Don't need any horrible book trying to tell us to be good. I love how christians think being kind and loving is a christian trait. NOT. Being kind and loving is a trait of people who are KIND AND LOVING.

The stuff we have seen is just the tip of the iceberg. It's much worse but she downplays it. Not a "victim".
Permalink Reply by Pat on April 12, 2012 at 9:57pm If you think about, it's quite amazing. The "christians" in America who pass laws (Oklahoma) to ban Sharia law here in the US, don't really disagree with Sharia law. They just want the christian version of it. Richard, you're absolutely correct. The brave Ms. Ahlquist (and I use the term "brave" as a US Army Viet Nam era veteran who has seen some fucking bravery in my life) is not playing the "victim" card. She is doing the right thing which is what should be expected in secular society from all of us, but is all too often found wanting. She is someone standing up and facing a firestorm. Unlike the muslims and christians, who claim "persecution," she doesn't whine and snivel about it. It's amazing what an old man like me can learn from a young girl who takes her citizenship seriously.

You sound like my friend Steven, a Bonze Star recipient and veteran of the Taliban in Afghanistan as well as the Christian Taliban in King, NC. She's his "hero", and he'd rather talk about her than his own battle, he's spoken to her at length. any of the clueless attacks on her as being a "pawn" or playing victim, or out for attention couldn't be further from the truth. She's downplayed the threats, both the amount and severity.
This is why I posted The Blaze mud-raking here.

Damned straight! We could sure use a lot more of it around here, that's a fact.
Permalink Reply by Tony Agudo on April 13, 2012 at 12:04pm Disgusting behavior like this is the norm at The Blaze. Anything that isn't pro-Christianity, right-wing, and conservative is instantly demonized. There are pro-secular commenters on the Blaze(including myself), but we're easily drowned out by comments that do little more than copypaste Bible quotes as a thought-stopping tactic. It's a perfect place to point to when making the point that religion makes otherwise moral and decent people say and do the most evil things possible.
i'll look for you over there Tony. what's your username? mine's PHILLYATHEIST.
