This proving a negative thing is a fallacy. That there is no MCT (this MCT) in Miami is a negative statement that I can both prove and that I do not need to prove to have contextual valid and certain knowledge that I am not there, if I know other things, which I do. The same way with god, I know he cannot exist because I know about identity, causality, reason and logic. I do not need to do extra experiements. I do not need additional proof. And neither should you.

Permalink Reply by MCT on December 2, 2011 at 7:40pm No. When our molecules are broken down after death, we will not be living on as anything. Our molecules come from stars, but our molecules need a particular configuration to be life. Life ends at death. You should keep in mind that metaphor is not a sufficient source of knowledge. You cannot validly say we will live on as star-dust because it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Life stops at death. There is no living on in metaphors.

Permalink Reply by Glenn Sogge on March 9, 2010 at 9:22am That's a very nice comparative.
Magic cannot exist, because the moment it is understood it stops being magic.
A magical rock that allows you to make something as big as a train levitate... that's magic.
You just need the knowledge of how the rock actually works (magnetism), and *poof*, it stops being magic.
Divinity is exactly the same. It is none existent, because it simply defines what we cannot define.
Emotions, aliens, evolution, conciousness, big bang, time, humor, life.....
All these things are divine, they are god.... just as long as you decide to not be curious about the reality behind them.
Just as the stuff they put in my food (E134, E435 etc...).. they will remain forever magical to me...allowing my food to be eternal (or almost)...
they're definately not some cancerous-potent chemicals... :)
