I find it odd that a majority of test subjects repeated the steps of test A to solve test B when it was obviously the more complex solution. On the other hand I do know some people who go through some incredible, to me, gymnastics to complete relatively simple tasks, like cleaning the house or driving home. One observation I have made over the years is that cultures with very strong traditional morays tend to eschew simpler solutions.
