Permalink Reply by Sabrina Beard on March 7, 2013 at 7:57pm I agree with ThomasS. First I've heard it put so succinctly but I do believe you have a point there. I remember quite vividly, during my journey to atheism, when a cousin's mother died suddenly, father and mother no longer together, and another cousin said, "That's why I don't go out dancing. She was supposed to be christian but was out dancing this weekend." Of course that was followed with a God comment. I thought that was the most horrible thing a person could say. That somehow, you are better because you attended church and someone else deserves death because they are not as devoted. Now before this, I had already told this particular person that I was an atheist and her conversation was constantly punctuated with religious sayings, purposely of course. I tolerated it. But this. That was the last time I actually had a social conversation with her.

What will our tiny tummy creatures do if we don't send food down to them?
They will eat on our bodies.
First they eat the fat most of us carry. They then eat what remains.
Feed them.

Permalink Reply by Loren Miller on March 2, 2013 at 9:25am John, you just triggered the hell out of me ... or more specifically, my memory and a recollection of a certain DarkMatter2525 video, to wit:
Permalink Reply by John Aultman on March 2, 2013 at 3:16pm I watch DM2525 videos "religiously" and this one is one of my favorites.
Permalink Reply by Joan Denoo on March 3, 2013 at 11:58am Loren, POWERFUL! Now imagine, just for a moment, you remain silent in face of such atrocities. Who benefits? You give voice to your understanding and countless of us benefit and free ourselves of our own chains. Thanks dear friend. Joan
Permalink Reply by Loren Miller on March 3, 2013 at 12:25pm A god who would help a pastor find his keys (!!!) yet can't be bothered to do a damned thing for the kid in the picture or the millions of other kids starving around the world doesn't even qualify as a caricature of a god. It's more like a convenience that people go to for trivial shit (like keys).
The one thing I genuinely love about that video is how it points out the banal triviality of how god supposedly works. What a lame joke!
