I could probably paste the entire bible here. The bible is ridiculous and irritating to me in its entirety. -- However, these are the verses I read that started me questioning in my teenage years and that eventually lead me in the path to Atheism.
1 Timothy 2:12
(Woman to be silent in church. A woman is not to speak in church)
(Wives must submit themselves to their husband, afterall he is the head of the wife)
(Wives submit to their husband -- the Lord expects it)
I love it when they dismiss and excuse certain parts of the bible! We should always take the opportunity to point out to them that by rejecting certain biblical lessons they are showing their natural moral compass.
If they cry "context", ask them if that means that we have "evolved".
They can't argue that religion teaches morality when it becomes clear that they are morally superior to the manual.
Why does anyone, but especially women, kowtow to idiot-misogynist men and their filthy, dirty motherfucking book? I'll never know...
This observation (from an unknown source) is quite useful if you want to loosely learn Bible basics:
As scientifically accurate as the rantings of an end-stage syphilitic mental patient who's been electrocuted and hit in the head with a shovel.
Indeed, Raymond. When we begin to learn TRUTH, FACTS, when WE begin to learn and examine and KNOW OURSELVES and OUR HISTORY, you'll then KNOW that it is YOU that has the REAL POWER, and that, in fact, WE ALL ARE GOD. And with this we ACT, armed with the TRUTH, KNOWLEDGE, POWER and a STRENGTH SO VAST and SO DEEP...that we begin to TRANSCEND everything that's ever been thrown our way, including any religion...
