O'REILLY: I'll tell you why [religion's] not a scam, in my opinion: tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. You can't explain that.
SILVERMAN: Tide goes in, tide goes out?
O'REILLY: See, the water, the tide comes in and it goes out, Mr. Silverman. It always comes in, and always goes out. You can't explain that.
Crooks and Liars' comment: "The sun rises and the sun sets. The clock strikes twelve at noon and midnight. Neither of these prove the existence of God, but don't tell BillO. He'd be crushed under the weight of the moon's gravity."

Permalink Reply by James M. Martin on January 27, 2012 at 4:40pm The post facto illogicality of O'Really's mindset. He thinks that because of the waves in the oceans, going out and coming in, that this proves the existence of Gaud. Of course, he also believes that Gaud created everything at once in six days about 6,000 years ago; that man walked with dinosaurs, and that fossils were put in the earth to fool the Darwinists. O'Really, being ignorant of science (and to an extent contemptuous of it) discounts the big bang and even if there was one, it happened because of Gaud. About 6,000 years ago. O'Really thinks the Cambrian Event is some kind of week-long Italian festival, probably for homosexuals. I guess I was trying to convey O'Really's madness. To me, people who are irrational are insane.

Permalink Reply by Loren Miller on January 27, 2012 at 8:43am The level of stupidity and ignorance represented by O'Reilly's statement is just staggering. That he is one of the supposed "leading lights" of the Faux Noise organization only speaks to the quality of said organization.
Now pardon me while I barf!
