Fox news=no news as far as I can tell.Yahoo news is about as good as I can find,the local newspaper is awfull when it comes to real news.

As far as I can tell, the best meeting of atheists on the planet is held around the 4th of July just south of Talladega. Do a search for Lake Hypatia Freethought Advance, and you should find something.

I'm new here also and even though i've never had trouble with...fitting in, i live in a fairly liberal part of the country I understand the need to feel like your surrounded by people like yourself. Which is a major part of atheism its it hard to meet people with similar views and then you feel alienated(i cant spell and am too lazy to google it) anyway feel that way no longer friend and know that your not alone.

Alabama does seem like it would be tricky to try to find non christians in. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I live in North Carolina and decided to start an atheist meetup group- I didn't think we'd get any takers.. maybe 10 or so total.. so my husband and I were shocked when we had 30 in a couple of weeks and now I think we're up around 50. Try searching meetup.com for an atheist group in your area.. if there isn't one, it'll show people who are waiting for one and you could meet people that way! Good luck!

I tried out an atheist meetup group in nearby Pensacola,Fl. but other than not being Christian I just didn't have much in common with them.Actually they were quite right wing about everything except religion.Last I heard the group's leader was quitting and looking around for someone to replace him.My views on non religious things just didn't jibe with theirs.
