How to get atheist nexus to stop sending me messages?!

I logged into my email account and saw i had at least 300 new messages, and they were all about "____ Has created a new discussion"

 

Obviously, I don't care to see every single post on atheist nexus, so how do I stop this?

I was getting tons of messages, too.  I was pushing the Follow button on the bottom of the discussion pages so that it said Don't Follow, so that they wouldn't send me messages.  But that's the opposite of what it's supposed to be.  You push the Follow button if you want to follow, and then it says Don't Follow, which was confusing to me, not being very computer literate.  I finally figured it out when everything I didn't want to follow was sending me emails and nothing that I did want to follow.
