Hi everyone!

I'm new here, but I've been a atheist for pretty much as long as I can remember. My family was mix of atheist and laid back Christians. So I was never really taught about god or anything until I was about 7 or 8. But I didn't believe what I was told, but I was afraid to deny it.

So I pretend to believe in god and really tried to force myself to believe in god and would look for "sign" that god actually exist and turn mole hill into a mountain over every tiny things.

This go on until I was about 15 or 16, not long after my mom remarried to a fundamental Christian. They change everything in my life so much that I was always confused, nervous and unhappy. Everything seems to be all about pleasuring god and following what bible teach. This cause me to fall into deep depression, so I start to read a lot more. I stumble across mythologies books and start to get really into it.
After a while, I realized that with all mythology that exist and all religions that exist today, it all make absolutely no sense. So I finally denounce all of the teaching.

Now I'm 27, as happy as could be, and loving life!

The old pattern recognition issue. I love this one. How our brains look for patterns in things, which can then create the false feeling that we have come across some special deeper meaning and then we use this to validate a false set of coincidences, which further reinforces our beliefs!! Then we try to convince others that it must mean something, spreading the virus. I drive a Blue Honda and I see them all over the place creating the impression that it must mean something. In fact every car that I have ever owned I spot on the roads but ignore all the other types......I bet everyone else does this process?

Yep, looking for a sign is easily done and a religious mind is extremely vulnerable to this process!! Jesus in tea cups, in the clouds, churches that are struck by lightning…….it’s a message from God ………no not really! People that turn up to parties wearing the same clothes etc.,…….it must mean something!!! No, just the probability of math in everyday life………. :)
