Happy Birthday Thomas Paine (Jan. 29, 1737)
Thomas Paine is the forgotten Founding Father. School history books make only brief mention of him not because he didn’t play an important role in the American Revolution, but because of what he wrote about religion afterwards.

His religious views may not get much play, but he gets more than a brief mention, and my school teaches excerpts from Common Sense in our eleventh grade literature class as well.
