Gawd must hate believers

That has to be the reason that, after repeated attempts to get their gawd’s attention, Rick Perry's Texas is still suffering. These are biblical-style afflictions, too: Pestulance, drought, wildfires, deaths. Other areas of the country have received rain. Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana…the south in general has had sufficient rainfall even without intercessory prayers from pompous and cynical governors.

Pat Robertson says that natural disasters happen for political and social reasons that he is championing. Michelle Bachman also believes that gawd does things based on political and cultural memes.

Because Rick Perry and the believers in Texas tried so hard and failed so miserably, I can’t help but think that gawd just hates those who pray to him. Pray to this gawd character, and he will withhold whatever it is that you are praying for. Or worse. He may be doing the opposite of what you are asking for.

My cousin lives in Houston. She's always putting on Facebook how she's praying for rain. If it's gawds will to burn Texas down, why is she praying to change his mind? Does she think her gawd doesn't know what he's doing? He/She/It must not be all-powerful then.

The whole god-vs.-believers trip reminds me too much of a S/M relationship gone horribly wrong. It's rather reminiscent of a joke which did the rounds in the "scene" community years ago and may have escaped into the general world:

A masochist is a guy, lying in a ditch, holding up a ball bat to passersby, saying, "Beat me, PLEASE!"

A sadist is a guy who passes by the masochist, looks down and sneers, NO!"

Casting of the parts of god and believers is left as an exercise for the student....
