i searched the discussion threads and couldn't find a previous topic about this subject. my interest on this topic was piqued after reading the recent news about the director's arrest earlier this week:

such an action is dispacable in of itself. he was well within his 1st ammendment rights to film the event, yet on a technicality his arrest was potentially justifiable. we shall see.
on the subject of natural gas drilling, i would recommend that people watch HBO's documentary "Gasland". you can find it on Youtube, although it is fragmented. currently HBO does not have it available to view 'On Demand'.
i'm still learning about the practice of fracking and it's potential effects. i knew nothing of this up until about 6 months ago, when a friend of mine who is a Financial Planner told me that natural gas was one of his biggest investment ideas. additionally, i have a client who owns property in Western Pennsylvania which sits on Marcellus Shale. he is waiting for a big offer from one of the natural gas companies, and he intends to cash in. furthermore, my in-laws live in Youngstown, OH which has seen more than a dozen earthquakes in the past year, including a recent ~6.0 magnitude, which are a proven and direct result from the practice of fracking (thankfully the natural gas companies in Ohio have 'temporarily' shut down drilling).
"Gasland" apparantly has its critics, but please watch for yourself. i can't imagine that he is making this stuff up. watch as homeowners light their water on fire, see bubbling (as opposed to babbling) brooks, and gape at the monumental scale of what has occured over the past decade plus with the explosion of natural gas drilling and exploration.
President Obama mentioned Natural Gas in his recent Address, and he is all for it. i'm still trying to get all the facts. anyone with information on this issue please post it here.
