Atheist Nexus

The World’s Largest Coalition of Nontheists and Nontheist Communities!

The Frisco Atheists will be meeting the pastor of Life Journey Church on Thursday, July 29 at 7:30 pm.  This will be our fourth event - - the other 3 were a lot of fun for everyone involved.  I try to get close to a 50-50 mix of believers to atheists and so far it's always been close.

The purpose of the event is to let believers know that atheists exist, that they're not rude or aggressive, and that we can all get together and have fun.   The conversation is always all over the map and it's always polite.

If you're in the Frisco area and positive interraction with believers sounds appealing to you, send me a note and I'll tell you more about the event.

That is one of the coolest things I have heard of in some time. If you could find a way to video tape the event or something I think it could be rather interesting to observe.
I wish I knew more atheists in my area, this sounds like a fun evening.
I'll wager the event is not held in a church.
I don't get how this would be fun. The xtians are probably hoping to pick off the weaker ones. Or at very least are thinking, "You guys are going to hell. Want ketchup on your burger?"

I get along fine with xtians around me, but I don't see myself purposefully mingling in a planned event. I smell ulterior motive.
It is our event; the Christians are our guests.
Any ulterior motives are entirely ours ;)
That's a great idea, and I hope it continues to work out as well as you say. Until a polite dialogue can be initiated, there's zero chance of anyone having an open mind to the other side. If they see that atheists are normal, family-oriented, upstanding folks, the possibility of them listening to reason increases marginally.
