I have just finished viewing a film by Daniel Karslake titled "For the Bible Tells Me So". This is a powerful, moving film about homosexuals and the trials and tribulations of being gay, "coming out", being in a loving relationship and other topics related to being a member of this group. One of the most disturbing themes of the film, and thus relevant to this forum, is its exploration of the attitude of the more fundamental Christian groups towards gays. The idea that being gay is "is a lifestyle choice that can be changed" from James Dobson of "Focus on the Family" is presented together with the rantings of some of the more hateful fundamentalist preachers. The film also mentions the money these demigods make with their spewing and also discuses the-out-of-context biblical quotes used to justify an anti-gay stance. Altogether it is a moving piece of cinema and one well worth watching. It is available on DVD from www.firstrunfeatures.com
Watch it if you can; I suspect you will find it simultaneously infuriating, heartwarming and very disturbing.
The film does have a Christian slant but it is not objectionable given the powerful message it presents
