The problem with the evangelicals is that they still think they're relevant, that their biases and prejudices deserve consideration and that their bible should be the standard for all to live by.  My answer to that is simply, "No, no, and no."  This is the 21st century.  Men are not exclusively the head of all households, women are not decorative property, gays are not deviants deserving of scorn, and the bible is NOT a standard for any kind of civilized behavior.

The bible-thumpers are much like the GOP in that they live in a bubble of their own making, living a pretend reality while the rest of us move, to coin a phrase, "FORWARD."  We don't share their delusions, and indeed, their delusions were delivered a substantial and pervasive blow on November 6th.  The real question now is how many of them can wake up to the reality outside their bubble, rather than clinging to an outdated paradigm which serves neither them nor anyone else.

We might get a few escapees ... but that Kool-Aid they make is pernicious stuff.

yes, that is the important question, and it will be fascinating to see if the slap in the face that they felt on Tuesday will wake them up or piss them off.

It truly is.  This group of people are narcissistic, insular, willfully deluded, scapegoating, irresponsible, hypocritical, ignorant, bigoted....   I don't think there's an antidote.

For sure.  For sure.  Amen brother.

indeed.  largely ignored by the media in all the talk about changing demographics is the "religiously unaffiliated" vote.  everyone has noted that blacks, hispanics, and asians are now overwhelmingly supportive of the Democratic Party, but non-believers and their ilk are one more large voting block that Republicans will have to overcome.

i hope that the next election cycle leaves the religious right behind.  their voice needs to be drowned out as a difference maker in deciding who our political leaders will be, and maybe this election will be the straw that broke the camel's back.
