Truth is that 100% of people trust science more than the bible. If they asked what's a more effective method of cooking your food: prayer or a microwave; guess which answer you'd find nearly everyone gives.
I think the numbers are higher for science on facebook than they would be in a representative sample of the general population of the USA, due to the younger demographic. OTOH, facebook has international participation, Europeans would pull it toward the science option.
A LOT of people take technology for granted, as though it was invented like Diana springing from the head of Zeus (or however it was she showed up!) to meet their needs, but they don't think of current, everyday technology as having resulted from science. I should also mention that this is generally because too many people of this ilk can't be bothered to THINK, period!
One of my favorite discussions used to be the benefits of the space program of the 60's, which gave us everything from integrated circuits to Velcro. I could occasionally even catch them wearing a jacket with a Velcro closure or carrying a pocket calculator or some other seemingly minor item which directly or indirectly owed its existence to our race with the Russians and our quest for the moon.
Google "space program benefits." You'll get over 13 million hits.
