Now I know why Jebus said not to eat with Shriners or Republicans.

There is a certain substantial segment of the population that will accept as gospel anything critical of liberals, Democrats, President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Elizabeth Warren. They do not care much about facts and they positively enjoy haveing their anger stoked by Limbaugh, etc. Their righteous indignation is a kind of drug and they are addicted, forever in need of a new fix. They will take something like this and run with it.

This comports with the most outlandish conspiracy theories, demonizing the opposition, manufacturing enemies, and offering a solution to save the masses from all of those who you have convinced are "out to get them." It panders to the ignorant and those who have abrogated their right to think independently. Manufacture a false boogeyman, offer yourself as the only salvation from this evil, and no matter how outlandish this may be, there are those that will willingly follow you like lemmings going off a cliff.

For the last few weeks I have been thinking about this quote prompted by Benghazi first and then Karl Rove on Hilary Clinton's health and as you state this stupid statement about mass shootings.

.. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.

You're absolutely correct, Barbara. It worked in WWII with the Germans, and it has been working ever since. From Vietnam, the genocide in Rwanda, and up to and including Iraq.

Just curious. Has he offered any evidence or some sort of rationale?

Craig

The link is there. No evidence that I can see. In fact, the article gets into a little depth and points out that Giffords was shot in the head, and she is a Democrat. I would take this to mean that the writer does not agree with this Arizona GOP candidate.
