Thanks nate. Criticism of this crap is long overdue. Just scraped the surface a tiny bit a while ago, and it reeked -

It's actually hilarious some of the stuff in the Wikipedia comments section. Quote -

Media criticism of Zeitgeist movie is unbalanced being mainly negative and abusive with the film critics abandoning film criticism for ideological correctness.

For balance I recommend referencing the 27 Customers Reviews in Amazon.com which cover the spectrum of opinion more justly than the current Wikipedia article on Zeitgeist.

Yup, place your faith in the masses. That never goes wrong.

The Skeptic Society had a look at it to a while back. It's a screen or two down in this link -

A lot of the 911 truther crap on YouTube has been lifted from this flick.

This is film is yet more proof that you don't need god to have religion. The religious brain is alive and kicking inside a lot of people that call themselves atheist. Kicking god is easy, kicking belief without substance, that's in the too hard basket. Yes, we do have a Zeitgeist group here. No, I will not link it.

I had to read that three or four times when I first saw it. It never occurred to them that consensus of expert opinion was "negative and abusive" because the "facts" of the film were fabricated around an overzealous desire to denigrate religion. Reality is enough. Why make stuff up?

Thanks for the Skeptic Society link, Felch.
No worries. Zeitgeist, like all other lunatic ravings today, has also benefited by what I call 'censorship through freedom'. The sheer volume of Zeitgeist groupie blogging has rendered it virtually impossible to find any objective discussion whatsoever with any search engine due to overload unless you're prepared to drill through 100's of garbage results.

The death of the traditional newspaper and the ascent of the citizen blogger is a bigger threat to us (and reality) in the 21st century than any horde of theists could ever dream to be.
Debunk the location; of all movements, religions or organizations, you'll see what they're really after...
You ever google earth the venus project in n. florida?

It would really help if you actually explained what it is we're supposed to be looking at...

I'm guessing it's the thing right next to the dirt road just past the swamp.
I just checked the website: "Started in late 2008, The Zeitgeist Movement exists fundamentally as the communication and activist arm of an organization called The Venus Project. In some ways it could be categorized as a "Sustainability Movement", in part. The basic pursuit of The Movement is to begin a transition into a new, sustainable social design called a “Resource-Based Economy”. This term was first coined by Jacque Fresco of the Venus Project and refers to an economic structure based exclusively on strategic resource management, as the starting point for all decisions."

Strategic resource management? What does that mean? Off to do more reading.
It means you abolish money and have same kind of idealised Star Trek collectivist system where everyone shares and is nice to each other and greed and crime magically cease to exist.
Oh. Yes. That's worked out so well with so many hippie intentional communities in the US.
Hippie intentional communities are to utopia as pagan covens are to perfect love and perfect trust.
Ha! You made my virtual beverage come out of my virtual nose.
And we all turn from our meat-eating ways and we begin to love all animals and insects as we do ourselves.

Oops, I'm in the wrong thread. :/
