Reading the Gelatogate discussion

Off Topic - (just a little)

This is what offended the guy

Brother Sam Singleton

I am offended also, but only by those who call this comedy.

I would be generous to even call it "parody".

It is almost as horrible as the real thing.

If you followed the previous links, I apologize for subjecting you to that.

What specifically, offends you about Bro' Sam?

(BTW, Sam doesn't "do" stand-up comedy)

As well, are you aware of this site rule? See 3 (f): Making negative threads targeting fellow members.

Read the post again.

Notice how the words come together to form sentences?

I would draw your attention to this sentence:

I am offended also, but only by those who call this comedy.

Plus, you concede MY point with YOUR sentence:

(BTW, Sam doesn't "do" stand-up comedy)

As a constant reader, I have indeed read the site rules.

No negative threads targeting other members here (I wasn't even aware he was a member, even though of course logic would dictate he is..)

But I digress and YOU are way off base.

Have a great day though.

"But I digress and YOU are way off base."

I offended by any who would suggest that this is a valid thread.

"I would draw your attention to this sentence:

I am offended also, but only by those who call this comedy."

Which would be, who?

"Plus, you concede MY point with YOUR sentence:

(BTW, Sam doesn't "do" stand-up comedy)"

Not really, having seen his show live, I have a pretty good idea what it is, the only person I see bring up "Stand up comedy" in this thread and the Gelatogate thread is you… that's the point. You seem to be offended by by something that doesn't exist, except as a straw man.

Glad we straightened that out, at least.

However you truncated your "how the words come together to form sentences" and left out:

"I would be generous to even call it "parody".

How do you define parody?

…also left out of your "how the words come together to form sentences" cite:

It is almost as horrible as the real thing.

If you followed the previous links, I apologize for subjecting you to that.

Please accept this as penance"

Is this someone's idea of comedy?

…talk about "way off base".

How is this not a: negative thread targeting a fellow member?

I have an opinion, you have an opinion.

If mine bothers you, then report me and let the mods sort it out.

I say again

Good day to you.

"I have an opinion, you have an opinion."

Yeah, I didn't think you would be accountable to your words.

"If mine bothers you, then report me and let the mods sort it out."

It doesn't bother me in the least, but that's besides the point, isn't it? As for reporting? No …it's better just to bookmark it for later.

"I say again

Good day to you."

Sarcasm …not very funny either. Unless this was just being dismissive?

Good Lords, where to begin? I guess I have to explain every single sentence (word) with links..

I (meaning me) am offended (that was a joke, not much actually offends me) by those (meaning people who are NOT me)

...who call this comedy.

I (again meaning me, alone) would be generous (in my OPINION) to even call this parody (definition).

It is almost as horrible (organ playing constantly, testimonials from the audience) as the real thing (actual religious services).

If you followed the previous links, I apologize for subjecting you to that.

(Ok here I should have said If you followed the previous links, looking for comedy..my bad)

Comedians Who are Athiests Doing Stand-Up (My idea of comedy).

OK so that done.

I apologize to Mr Roger Scott Jackson if I offended HIM.

There are lots of comedians who became HUGE without me being a fan (Kinison, O'neal, Godfrey).

I am sure my opinion of this character will in no way deter your career :).

Any others:

I think that's pretty much accounting for ALL my words.

I usually don't have to explain things in this much detail..except to the fanatics.

Do they give out pulitzers for bolding and hyperbole?

…I take back what I said, you're funny.

So… where did you catch the show, did you talk to him? …did he, like …flip you the bird or something? Just curious.

Never even heard of him before today. I googled the Gelato Mio story..click, click, click, video on youtube from Skepticon (labeled as atheist evangelical comedian).

I probably should have added this to the post :

The concept of his act is indeed hilarious (again only my opinion), and i support it wholeheartedly, but the performance just was not my cup of tea.

But I thought the penance line was more appropriate, for the faithful.

"Never even heard of him before today"

Um
