Anyone even been in any Christian bookstore or religious stores? If so what was your experience? I'll share mine. I went into a store called The Lighthouse. They sold and propagated Christian music, books and other goods. I saw a poster which was a parody of a Facebook wall. It was called "Faithbook" and there was a post from Charles Darwin to God which said something along the lines of "How could I have gotten it so wrong??". The store owner was staring at me as I laughed at this. I didnt try to hide my laughter either. Yet I found the experience unnerving and even creepy. Thoughts?

Permalink Reply by Rob van Senten on November 17, 2011 at 5:46am In the Netherlands the Christian (book)stores tend to be quite odd and a bit creepy in my opinion, but this is nothing compared to the weirdness and creepiness of "NewAge" bookstores. The amount of BS that can be found in such stores baffles my mind.
Once I walked into a bookstore that advertised itself as a bookstore for "deeper understanding" and "philosphy and science" where I asked if they had any books by mr. Dawkins. They didn't, in the whole bookstore I could not find any book that wasn't about some wishy-washy spiritual hogwash.
Permalink Reply by Richard K. Emms on November 17, 2011 at 6:43am That is exactly what I would have expected to happen. Sorry, I haven't ventured into one. No point in inviting bad experiences. They come naturally on their own.
Permalink Reply by Pat on November 17, 2011 at 7:08am Went into one a few weeks ago on a lark. My S/O didn't want to go, thinking I would crack jokes and get thrown out. I did whisper jokes into her ear, making her laugh out loud, which got the patrons staring at her, and not me. She got pissed at me and we left. I thought it was funny, but yes, definitely creepy.

Permalink Reply by Regina Goodwin on November 19, 2011 at 9:07pm I don't find them creepy. I find them dishonest. You can feel the contempt from the employees and store owners. I asked a clerk if they had a catholic bible and I was told that catholics are not xtians. I said, if it wasn't for the catholic church, you would not have known about JC.
He thought for a moment and blushed.
What a maroon.
Permalink Reply by dr kellie on February 7, 2012 at 11:24am I had to go in one several years ago because they were connected to a UPS packing store, and I had something to ship. It was packed full of crosses and inspirational stuff, and it smelled like a church. Gross.
Permalink Reply by Regina Goodwin on February 9, 2012 at 7:27pm Excuse me for asking this silly question. How does a church smell?
I've been to numerous churches and they either smell like two scents.
