See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Twenty years later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.
See You at the Pole™ is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.
Sounds like a reasonable expression of faith. It's legal, it's not disruptive (I mean, nobody else hangs out around flagpoles for fun 364 days of the year), and it doesn't even do anything since we all know prayer is simply the fine art of talking to oneself. Except, it seems someone forgot to ask WWJD? before creating this event.
"When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get." Matthew 6:5
That's right: Jesus disapproves of See You at the Pole! Of course, woe to anyone who dare point this out. ;)
