If you weren't paying too close attention to international news, there was a school attack the same day as the Newtown Connecticut attack.

The differences were: it was a knife attack (China has strict gun control laws)

Twenty-six children were injured, but none died (there are no assault knives with huge clips)

China just fired six officials for mishandling the school attack. Xinhua News Agency (the official organ of the Communist Party) reports that the fellow may have been influenced by the alleged Mayan prophecy of the end of the world.

Xinhua did not give an official reason for the firings, other than gross incompetence of the school officials.
