Cameron and Comfort, intellectual luminares of our time featured on CNN

two things. 1. an actor claims to be smarter than almost all the scientists there are and is somehow capable of "debunking" them.

2. What if we put a 50 page preface on the bible and gave it out? "This book is full of utter horseshit and should not be taken literally by anyone. It should not be taught to children as fact, and its racism and undeniable connection to hitler's nazi regime cannot be ignored."

Not to suggest by any stretch that the "origin of species" is somehow a bible for atheists or even comes close, but it does seem a reasonable retort.

Ken Miller can go to hell too! Delusional fool! FAIL
Agreed. For the time being the majority of people in this country belong to a religion, so science needs their support just as much as it needs the support of atheists.

This is a stupid, childish argument and I'm getting tired of seeing it.

So what if you put a 50 page preface on the Bible? If a Christian keyed the shit out of your car would you key up his car, too? That's "eye-for-an-eye" thinking.

I find it extremely funny that a creationist is handing out unabridged copies of Charles Darwins Origin of Species on University campuses for free. This is irony at it's finest. I've read the introduction and, to be honest, Ray Comfort has the English comprehension of a 4th grader. He can't compete with Darwin's scientific knowlege nor can he compete with his writing. I don't see him as a threat in the least.
its not an argument, its a juxtaposition to make a point, implying both are incredulous. This is not a call to "revenge", rather it is merely stated to bring some perspective to the original concept in terms of the offending party.
I love this woman. Instead of sprawling, endless, monotonous whining about lack of representation and "the Man", she just gets up and does it -

Duane: And it doesn't hurt that she's a hot, blond coed. [sigh]

Boy, did you just walk into it. I'd cover myself in bubble-wrap and go stand in a doorway if I were you.
Shhh, if you don't say anything too loudly the Feminist Hive Mind might not see. (The visual/auditory metaphors get soooo messed up on the Internet!)
*ducks for cover!*
I just have to ask because I am sooooo curious, but does anyone know where to obtain a copy? At least a copy of the intro? I am dying to read it!
Pretty sure google has it, I think a pdf was released in advance.
Thanks, google does have it. I'm looking at it now.
Google is amazing.

I think part of the sign up process for this site should include finding something obscure on the web. I can't understand people that can't be bothered looking for anything.

I'll even attach it for you so you don't break your mouse finger clicking things.

For whatever reason, it has been removed from the LivingWaters website.

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:28pm 2 Comments

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

War on Christmas in May

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
