I love Calvin and Hobbes too - I've got most of their collections. I remember one strip where C & H are standing outside under the vast starry night sky, and Calvin yells, "I'm significant!" Before adding, "... shouted the dust speck." The realisation that the universe doesn't revolve around us as individuals, humanity, or even Earth is indeed very non-theistic. :)

Such a shame Watterson doesn't do this strip anymore. But you can understand it--I've known a couple of newspaper cartoonists, and it's a serious grind.
