is the whole thing as obvious as it seems? there is only one good reason i can think of to be against birth control - to increase the number of parishoners. it's hard to believe that this archaic idea still has footing in today's day and age. Catholic women ignore the Holy See's mandate completely. i've read that some 90+% of Catholic women use some form of birth control. however, the Church just cannot let this issue go.
my own Mother came home from Church about a week ago all fired up after hearing the Bishop's letter blasting Obama for his attack on their religious freedom. as bad as the blathering has been, the linked article ratchets it up a notch. Obama seems willing to comprimise, even though polls have come out that show how out of touch with reality the Church is. the comprimise seems awfully fair, offering an employer with a moral objection the ability to opt out, yet make a referral available to their female employees. seems like a reasonable way the meet in the middle.
nope.
"...the Catholic bishops have already rejected the Hawaii model as a viable alternative because Catholic organizations don't even want to refer women to contraception coverage."
at this point, i'd love for Obama to just tell them (in some de facto manner) to fuck off. no comprimise, and guess what, if you don't like it i can send your church's income tax forms to fill out. you're going to have to PAY to act like morally questionable fucktards.

Permalink Reply by booklover on February 10, 2012 at 9:49am If the women truly believe what their religion teaches them, then they won't use birth-control. Right? lol. Also, some women use it to control conditions such as endrometriosis (sp?). If this was mens bodies there probably wouldn't be an issue. Ugh! A bunch of old catholic know-it-alls controlling womens bodies.
I think Obama will backtrack. Again ugh!
and this is a bit old, but HOLY SHIT, check this out!!!
