I thought this was a great article and very relevant to me as a military wife. I wasn't surprised by the typical arrogant comments from theists. I was, however, surprised by the atheist comments saying that the idea was ridiculous. Perhaps the reason is they are not in the military. The job of a Chaplain is to give comfort to service members and their families. Just because we are atheists doesn't mean we have hearts made of stone and do not need comfort and advice. I also think atheists especially need comfort and advice from a fellow secularist, so they do not hear the BS euphanisms made by religious folk like, 'it's gods will' or 'they are in a better place'.
I was curious as to other positions, from military and non-military atheists.
