Atheists have far better sex lives :)

"Atheists have far better sex lives than religious people who are plagued with guilt  during intercourse and for weeks afterwards, researchers have found.

A study discovered that non-believers are more willing to discuss sexual fantasies and are more satisfied with their experiences.

Both groups of people admitted that they carried out the same activities such as masturbation, watching pornography, having oral sex and pursuing affairs."

Yes we have great sex after we meet but being a single atheist male put one at a great disadvantage. The Free thinker Match website has 11649 male signed up and 3389 women. Not good odd for men.

Actually I might beg to differ with you about atheists being the ‘only ones’ with a great sex life. Buddhists and Hindu’s are also known to indulge themselves in carnal pleasures, I’ve even read about Buddhist monks in Tibet, back in the day, who’d would come down from their mountain temples to indulge the physical pleasures found in the village brothels.

I mean let’s not forget that one of the best love texts from antiquity is the Kama Sutra. You can’t tell me this was written by a bunch of people with guilty consciousnesses. East Indian religions definitely have a healthier embrace of sexuality than those found here in the west. This fact was part of the reason why I took an interest in Buddhism many years ago.

Nowadays though, well, I’ve definitely moved away from eastern religious ideologies. Of course that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy having sex. Of course I can certainly relate with Glenn Pollock about the availability of single Atheist Women. And with a ratio like the one he describes… almost 3:1 Sheesh!

The study doesn't say that atheists are the only ones with a great sex life. It breaks religion down in great detail and finds a damn near 1:1 correlation between the amount of sexual guilt indoctrination and the degree of sexual satisfaction. Jews, UUs, and other liberal sects have relatively satisfying to very satisfying sex lives.

The salient point is that nobody seems to have *better* sex than secularists as a whole. Some do approach it or virtually equal it. And those would be the religions that don't teach sexual repression.

Well since you brought it up... I can attest to this sexual repression... This guilt... Humans should enjoy sex as it is, it seems to be the main reason we are here. As long as its not degrading and the fantasy is mutually enjoyed.

That's the thing... studying former religionists is the best way to compare. You've got to have people who have at least experienced both religious sex and secular sex or the comparison isn't nearly as meaningful.

Well its fair to say atheists are less burdened by religious factors, but that doesnt make the equation atheists=great sex, not believers. Too many psychosocial parameters. Plus, catholci and jewish guilt dont apply to islam, hinduism and more.

I don't want to appear cynical, but any science journalism by the Dailymail is deeply suspect.

Well this topic is mostly for fun )) I heard about Dailymail reputation.

I actually am skeptical to most of the studies today. If the subject is important, Im not only looking at where they are being published but who sponsored them and how the research was done: was it a simple cohort study or a double-blind randomized one.

In this particular case though, I think no study is needed to conclude that Christians won't have so much fun with sex because bodily pleasures, sex especially has always been viewed as giving in to lower instincts.

Yeah, you're right. It's frivolous and that's a good thing. But I just really wanted to know if atheist sex caused or cured cancer.
