Hello, i am the only atheist at work, in family, etc. that i am in contact with.
There were some that i knew years ago, none now.
Almost everyone i know is a brainwashed jesus loving fox news brainwashed redneck.
Would like to sell this house and move but cannot till i clear these debts.
Natasha, I am very glad to see you here and know that being able to chat with non-believers helps to stay connected. Not having to shun your own beliefs in deference to believers is a pain. Freedom of expression is far too valuable to waste.
Ah, Natasha.... I feel your pain. I too am a lone atheist surrounded by ignorant brainwashed superstitious Jesusers. Stay strong! Peace.
There was a time when i was on another atheist site, Left it long ago. Just do not have much time to complete necessary projects.
I am hoping that you will do something for me, but mostly for yourself. Go for a walk, smell, see, pet a dog, cat or do whatever strikes your fancy.
Life is so short and i have let myself become a debt slave in need of a 3rd job. Very difficult to smell, to see, to do enjoyable walks that clear the poisons.
I was never to fancy of being a slave to "GOD's money" ... I think I'd rather sell everything and move out and buy a cheap ass lot than let myself be busy with 3 jobs.
I kinda wonder... Do non believers have less debt (on average) than faithful sinners AKA (the religious)...?
Just a question. Personally for me freedom is owning everything outright. I worked and saved a lot to get to that point but now that I've arrived I've pretty much wasted a lot of time petting dogs and taking long walks ... Stopping to smell the roses on a road less traveled... I also have a young Chinese G/F. I'm going back to college even tho I have no reason why. I guess to get out of the house. It's put a cramp in my time of doing nothing all day tho! :)
I find it Amusing when I had a job. I'd see old people ... You know that they had no job ... you'd see them pushing carts in grocery stores... I always dreamed of being like them... Not having a worry about anything. Just go buy food, and go home cook and go to bed. Now that I'm semi like them... I kinda wish I had a job again. :) Can't win for losing and that old saying goes... Careful what you wish for? Damn it's true.
Eric, I don't know if believing in god or not makes the difference, but I am not one who pays money for money. Can't get ahead that way, unless it is building a business. I pay cash for what I want, borrow very little for what I need and pay it off as fast as I can, and live off earnings. At 78, that seems to work fine for me.
I haven't had a boring day since I retired from teaching, just too many interesting things to do.
As for feeling like you "wish I had a job again", may I suggest volunteering for something that matters to you. Today, I had a cancer treatment; the place was jammed with people waiting for treatment. The poor nurses were running as fast as they could to keep the drip lines flowing in the 17 cancer patients getting the dreaded chemo drips. When volunteers are there, they are able to bring around beverages or snacks. When they aren't there, a patient has to unplug from the wall, take the tower holding the chemo along to get a drink of water or eat something to get that awful taste of the chemo out of one's mouth. I am so grateful to those who come to help patients and nurses.
Perhaps, if you like kids, volunteering with youth groups keeps one active, but that is not for those who don't enjoy kids.
I hope you find something that fills your time with things you like to do and with people you enjoy.
