What's your favorite 'atheist' song? (Mine is John Mayer's 'Belief'.)
...Or at least one you interpret as atheist in nature...

Nina Simone " ain't got no"

Written by one of the hardcore blunt atheists: Kerry King
So, if you prefer a heavier anthem:

"Disciple" by Slayer

Drones since the dawn of time
Compelled to live your sheltered lives
Not once has anyone ever seen
Such a rise of pure hypocracy
I'll instigate I'll free your mind
I'll show you what I've known all this time

God HATES Us All, God HATES Us All
You know it's true God hates this place
You know it's true he hates this race

Homicide-Suicide
Hate heals, you should try it sometime
Strive for Peace with acts of war
The beauty of death we all adore
I have no faith distracting me
I know why your prayers will never be answered

God HATES Us All; God HATES Us All
He Fuckin' hates me

Pessimist, Terrorist targeting the next mark
Global chaos feeding on hysteria
Cut throat, slit your wrist, shoot you in the back fair game
Drug abuse, self abuse searching for the next high
Sounds a lot like hell is spreading all the time
I'm waiting for the day the whole world fucking dies

I never said I wanted to be God's disciple
I'll never be the one to blindly follow

Man made virus infecting the world
Self-destruct human time bomb
What if there is no God would you think the fuckin' same
Wasting your life in a leap of blind faith
Wake the fuck up can't ignore what I say
I got my own philosophy

I hate everyone equally
You can't tear that out of me
No segregation -separation
Just me in my world of enemies

I never said I wanted to be God's disciple
I'll never be the one to blindly follow
I'll never be the one to bear the cross-disciple

I reject this fuckin' race
I despise this fuckin' place
(4x)
The Canadian rock band Rush has a few athiestic themed songs and just released 2 new songs of their upcoming album, Clockwork Angels. BU2B is about being Brought up to Believe and the Caravan is based off William Manchester's book, World lit only by Fire.
Nobody has mentioned Bad Religion? I've had more than one person tell me they became an atheist after listening to their music. Here are the lyrics to 'Atheist Peace'

Maybe it’s too late for an intellectual debate,
but a residue of confusion remains.

Changing with the times,
and developmentally tortured minds
are the average citizen's sources of pain.

Tell me what we’re fighting for—
I don’t remember anymore,
only temporary reprieve

And the world might cease
if we fail to tame the beast
from the faith that you release
comes an atheist peace.

Atheist peace.

Political forces rent
bitter cold winds of discontent
and the modern age emerged triumphantly.
But now it seems we've stalled
And it’s time to de-evolve
and relive the dark chapters of history

Tell me what we’re fighting for—
No progress ever came from war,
only a false sense of increase

and the world won’t wait
for the truth upon a plate
but we’re ready now to feast on an atheist peace.

Atheist peace

I forgot about the one i made with windows movie maker. The song is by a classic band "Zebra" (the reason i picked up a guitar), and the tune is "A World That Is Learning" > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzaLIP8YYi8
I don't know about atheist in nature but, it pisses off my Xtian relatives. And always gives me a smile when it does. From Ian Gillan "Future Shock"

This thread has a good point. There is no one great big Atheist anthem. I never thought of it before. A lot of groups have songs and an anthem. Someone needs to write a great big glorious Atheist anthem like The Star Spangled Banner for Atheists. A lot of old Patriotic songs in the US were really very old UK songs that people sung over and over in bars and made up their own words. Maybe we could rewrite Whiskey in the Jar. Wack fol my daddy-o when there's Atheists in the jar-o. Hmmm. Nope. Maybe Whiskey you're the Devil. Um...Whiskey you're an Atheist ... Nope. Well, keep trying. Hee hee.
I nominate "Corporate Avenger" especially for "the bible is bullshit" song.

Frank Zappa: "Dumb All Over" Edie Brickell/New Bohemians: "What I Am"

I love 'Imagine' by John Lennon.

The Doors 'People Are Strange' may be a good song as well since it deals with the strangeness of us humans and that feeling of aloneness we all feel at times.

I wrote a song a few years ago called 'Everyone Is God' which basically says that whatever god is, we are it. If god is nothing more then the laws of nature in motion - so be it. In the song I say that god is "life, death, and everything in between." Now, imagine that.
