Well John, this OBVIOUSLY is the work of the devil, trying to confuse us, is it not?!
Well John, you silly goose! Isen't it patently OBVIOUS this is the work of ol' Lucifer himself? Untold eons ago he anticipated this opportunity and, of course, he set about with his evil ways to confuse and befuddle us!

Sorry, I know this is old, but as stated in the article.

"Scientists have discovered the earliest known Hebrew writing — an inscription dating from the 10th century B.C., during the period of King David's reign."

1 century = 100 years

...thus...

10 centuries = 1000 years

...so it would have been 1,000 BC...not 10,000 BC

Oh my! That's old... But by that logic Buddhism is 3000 years older than 600 BC because it is based of Hinduism which itself has the issue of Vedas referring to "lost works" that predated it. (Think of it as the Old Testament that says, "If you reference page 125 in the Epic of Gilgamesh...)

All this effects is making the Old Testament even more ridiculous. I am sorry, if you are listening to the world view of people 3000 years ago, then you must have been elsewhere the day they were handing out brains.

The English language existed in 10th century AD, therefore the Lord of the Rings must have been written in the 10th century AD.

Oh Sauron! How have I offended thee!

I shal offer you this ring I found on that hobbit I mugged the other day.

Hope that appeases you a little.

I'm not surprised some of the stories date from that far back, but they were still written as "gospel" by bronze age goathumpers.

This reminds me of a certain hilarious Onion article...
