"Travellers to the U.S. could have their laptops and other electronic devices seized at the airport under new anti-terror measures.
"Federal agents have been granted powers to take such devices and hold them as long as they like.
"They do not even need grounds to suspect wrongdoing."
What does Bush have to say about this?
"You know, I can't tell you how strongly I believe that -- about the power of freedom. After all, it's been a part of our national soul. We have proven how powerful freedom can be...
"The enemy can't stand the thought of free societies. That's why they attacked us, see. And we're not going to change. That's what they don't understand. There's nothing they can do to intimidate, to make us change our deepest belief." Source
Bonus points to the person who can identify 3 types of government FAIL.
Of couse, W has played right into the hands of the 'terrorists' via FISA, Patriot Act, etc. But it never really had anything to do with making us safer. They only wanted more power and control - Orwell style. Just wait until we all have a RFID microchip. The Bush admin. wants to spy on anyone and everyone but none of us are allowed access to public information such as White House visitor logs, admin. email, etc.
Apparently between this, the airline price hikes, the fee-per-bag nonsense and now that garbage the TSA came up with allegedly wanting passengers to wear taser bracelets (I kid you not) I don't know why anybody would fly. Hopefully people will revolt and either force them to end this bull or put them out of business.
Um... let's see what kinds of FAILs there are here...
1) Fail
2) Well, if "the enemy is anti- free society," they're doing a good job of preventing us from being free, considering the administration's paranoia has led to subjecting the least suspicious people in the world to have their laptop stolen from them.
Oh noes... I can't find the third one, do I still get partial bonus points? :)
