Wow Amanda, you are so nice to offer all this. Thank you very much!
*Offer premium ad-free browsing for a small additional charge.

*Put a star or banner under member's names/icons who have donated to the site as a badge of honor.

These are small things but they really do add up.
Those are good ideas Kate, thank you.
Wow, i feel so inadequate after reading all that others are able to ffer. I can only offer my voice in the din that is the budding US theocracy. I shall link and blog to my heart's content.

perhaps trying to get a Digg article posted? That will generally get A LOT f people to a site. If you make a specific article or something, and then send a mass email to all members of Atheist Nexus to digg that article, it will get to the front page rather quickly. In general the folks at Digg do not hate those who proclaim atheism.
Become an Amazon affiliate and have members review atheist books (or anything, really), and link to the amazon product page.

Also, Richard; you should start thinking about having a TV spokesperson. It doesn't matter where they are in the US, they can always be interviewed at a TV station. It's important that they aren't easily flustered, know their atheism (all sorts), and have charisma and chutzpah up the wazoo.

If possible, someone should interview the spokesperson candidates so you can see how they react under pressure. Cute, positive, and bouncy are all pluses. Once you pick one, you should make sure they have press training (I got mine from the AVP of PR at my university) and begin working on talking points.

There are a number of reasons to have a spokesperson; it's just too late for me to remember any off the top of my head*. Basically, though, a lot of organizations separate the President/chief/dictator/chair/poobah and the spokesperson positions because the Spokesperson should paint the organization in the best light. So, if the press is reporting about Atheist Nexus, you want the Spokesperson to answer any questions. If the press is reporting about anything but Atheist Nexus, the president should be the one talking.

*I'll try to remember them later.
Thank you again Richard. These are great ideas and we already have someone working on PR.
This topic a little stale, but I'll put my 2 cents in anyway:

I work at a PR/Marketing/Advertising agency, I live, eat and breathe the stuff! I usually end up writing press releases, emails or anything dealing with written communication. I have a BA in English as well, I love to write..

So.. if you need letters, emails or any other documents to look & sound professional, I can help. I'm also happy to proof read and edit anything you throw at me.
That's awesome, thank you very much LoLo!
Really now? I'm starting to self-train in grant/proposal writing for my atheist group here. We have a few educational projects we want to pursue but need extra funding for. If you have experience in that, I'd love to pick your brain a little.
I've been plugging Nexus on my young, yet virile, podcast and I've had some good feedback. BrotherRichard himself told me I had a voice for radio...so if A|N ever needs a voice I'd love to try out. Voice, mind you, not a face...no no.

I have no press training but I can certainly read a script :)
Thank you Hessenroots!
I got an idea. The AAI is next month. What if AN becomes one of the exhibitors? It's not that expansive. Get some merchandise out, donations, get users to sign up. It would be a great opportunity to promote AN. Any thoughts on this?

Death of a family member

Posted by Larry Taylor on May 20, 2013 at 8:15pm 5 Comments

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!

Posted by Christy Stewart on May 20, 2013 at 2:17pm 6 Comments

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.

I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

anti-atheist rant from an Orthodox Mormon part 2

What do you think of this,

Nathan Young,

No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it.  The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs.  I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance.  The letter was a mockery of atheism.  Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…
